| Southside was formed in June of 1984 by the merger of two churches, Melwood Baptist and Woodland Heights Baptist. Both of these churches had a rich history in the Brownwood community dating back 30+ years prior to 1984. |

Southside cooperates with thousands of churches across the United States and throughout the world with the Southern Baptist Convention, the Baptist General Convention of Texas and the Willow Creek Association. Southside is also a part of the local Heart of Texas Baptist Network where we partner with local congregations to discover opportunities for accomplishing missions and ministry with others.

Our tag line, "a place to belong," best describes who we are as you do not have to be Baptist to feel you belong here. We are more interested in reaching people and helping them become followers of Christ than making them Baptist.
